MRS. ROBERTS IS DEAD

END CAME FOR WELL KNOWN WOMAN LAST FRIDAY

 

            Emma Gaylord was born in Packwaukee, this state, on August 26, 1864, and died at the family home, this city, on Friday, June 4, 1926, at the age of 61 years, 10 months and 22 days.

            Death came as the result of a nervous breakdown suffered several weeks ago.  Her husband and three children were with her when the end came.

            In the month of September, 1884, she was united in marriage to H.R. Roberts at Westfield, and in 1894 the family came to Waupaca, residing here continuously since that time.

            She leaves to mourn their loss, her husband; two daughters, Marion (Mrs. H.R. Simonds) of Boston, Mass.; and Catherine at home; one son, Gaylord B. of Waupaca; four brothers, L.B. Gaylord of Lander, Wyoming; E.M. Gaylord of Nome, Alaska; F.R. Gaylord of Packwaukee, Wis.; and Isaac Gaylord of Kansas City, Kansas; and one sister, Mrs. Minie Moore of St. Cloud, Minn.

            Mrs. Roberts was an active and capable woman and had a host of friends.  She at all times took an active interest in club work and civic affairs.  She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Eastern Star, the Woman’s Club, the Monday Night Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary.  She served two terms as local president of the Woman’s Club.

            The funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock from St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, the Rev. Alfred L. du Domaine having charge of the obsequies.  The remains were placed at rest in Lakeside cemetery. Those who acted as pallbearers were Chas. R. Hoffman, E.A. Hannon, Sophus Jensen, Frank Stratton, Paul Williams and Robert L. Holly.
