EDW. SESSIONS, PIONEER, DEAD

Word of the death of Edward Sessions, which occurred at his home in Berkeley, Calif., was received by relatives here yesterday.

Some of the older pioneers of Waupaca county will possibly remember the pioneer who came here form Vermont, in the first influx of settlers to the Indian territory.

Part of the town of Farmington, then called Session’s Prairie, was so named after Mr. Session’s father.  Edward was the first white child born in the county.

His parents, enthused by the gold fever of California in 1849, made the western trip from here in a covered wagon.  Their gold mine eventually turned into one of the large cattle ranches of the southwest.

Mrs. John C. Lewis of Antigo, a cousin, had recently visited the deceased at his home in Berkley.

Mr. Sessions was a cousin of the present generation of the Browne, Wheeler and Lord families.
