Death of J.B. Simcock.
James B. Simcock died at seven o’clock Tuesday morning, aged 65 years, of heart disease. Mr. Simcock was one of our best townsmen. He has been identified in the growth and prosperity of Waupaca for thirty years, having held many offices of trust and responsibility, and faithfully discharged every duty. Was for years engaged in the hardware trade with his brothers William and Isaac, but failing health compelled him to give up the business about two years ago, and he sold his interest to E.C. Williams, the present owner. Getting better he entered again in the manufacturing department of the establishment last summer, but in the fall was obliged to give up on account of failing health. Mr. Simcock was a worthy member of the Masonic and Odd Fellow’s lodges in this city. A true and conscientious Christian and member of the M.E. Church, he having for years been identified in Church and Sunday school work. His life has been an upright one, in every spot and place. He leaves a loving wife, and four children, to mourn the loss of a kind affectionate husband and father. The loss is great in this community, because everybody appreciated his kindness of heart, true character and worth, as a neighbor and friend. The children are Charles, who is a machinist in LaCross; Mamie, the wife of David Clements, of Antigo; Samuel, who is working in the N.P. Railroad offices West, and George, the youngest, who lives at home. He leaves two brothers, William of this city, and Isaac of Amherst. The funeral will be held from the residence at 1-1/2 o’clock Friday, services at the M.E. Church and at the grave, the ceremonies to be under the direction of the Masonic Lodge. The I.O.O.F. will also attend in a body.
Peace to the ashes of this good man. He will receive a Crown of Reward if there are any to bestow.
