WILLIAM SMITH PASSES AWAY AFTER A LONG LIFE IN COUNTY
William Smith was born in Wales, Great Britain, in 1840, and came to this country when a boy twelve years of age, in 1852, and located in the state of New York. While residing there he became acquainted with Miss Elizabeth Evans, to whom he was married in 1857. Mr. and Mrs. Smith came West in 1858 and located on the farm on the west of the Chain o’ Lakes, in the town of Farmington where they continued to reside until their decease. Mrs. Smith having passed away in 1911 and Mr. Smith on Jan. 17, 1919, at the age of seventy-eight years, six months and two days.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith were the parents of six children, four of whom survive, viz.: Fred and Dave of the town of Farmington, Edwin of Waupaca and Alfred, whose residence is in Minneapolis, Minn. There are also eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the farm home on Sunday, Jan 19, conducted by Rev. E.B. Earle of Wisconsin Veterans’ Home, and the remains were laid to rest in the family lot on the farm, where Mrs. Smith and two sons were already resting.
