E.C. WILLIAMS DIED SATURDAY

Conducted Hardware Business in Waupaca for Period of 32 Years.

E.C. Williams was born in Palmyra, this state on Jan. 21, 1858, and died at his home in this city on Saturday, Nov. 6, 1926, at the age of 68 years.  Death came as the result of a paralytic stroke suffered a little over two weeks before.

At an early age Mr. Williams moved from Palmyra to Marinette.  In 1888 he came to Waupaca and entered the hardware business, which business he conducted in this city for a period of 32 years, selling out to Nelson & Peterson in 1920.  In the 90’s he served as an alderman from the Third ward for several terms.

In 1886 he was united in marriage to Harriet Simcox of this city, who with a son and daughter, Paul and Esther of this city are left to mourn their loss.  There is also left a brother, Edward Williams of Marienette, and a sister, Florence Williams of Minneapolis.  A son, Arthur, died five years ago.

The funeral was held at 2:00 o’clock on Monday afternoon from the Methodist church, the services at the church being in charge of the Rev. Frank C. Richardson, while the Masonic service was conducted at the grave, he having long been a member of that order.  Interment was in Lakeside cemetery.  As a tribute to his memory all business places in the city were closed during the funeral hour.

Those from out of the city in attendance at the funeral were Edward Williams, Robert Williams, Wayne McBride and Mrs. Stanton, all of Marinette, and Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Chapman of Antigo.
