LOST IN THE WOODS
The fifteen months old boy of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Dain, of St. Lawrence, had an experience last week which
caused his parents much uneasiness, and kept a large number of people out all
night. He went with his mother blackberrying on Thursday last, about a mile west of
Ogdensburg. At about two o’clock, he disappeared, having wandered into the
brush. His mother searched for him for
some time, and then gave the alarm, and practically everybody in Ogdensburg
went out to look for him. His footprints
were found in a road, but they terminated near some woods. The crowd covered the ground very carefully
all night long, and about seven o’clock
on Friday morning, L. Bruley found the little fellow,
sleeping in a hollow stump, in which he had crawled, and was apparently unable
to get out. Though he was cold and
hungry, he was none the worse for his adventure.
Mr.
and Mrs. Dain wish the Post to express their
appreciation of the work done by their neighbors and friends.
