Park Judge01
Waupaca Republican
August 3, 1883
Judge
Park to Resign
The
Stevens Point Gazette says: It is
reported that Judge park will resign his Judgeship
of this circuit, if indeed he has not already done so, the resignation to take
effect the 15th of the present month. The decision is brought about and becomes
necessary on account of his health, which has not improved to any marked degree
since he left for the west. This state
of affairs is to be greatly deplored by Mr. Park’s thousand of friends
throughout central and northern Wisconsin,
and it is to be hoped that after a long rest he will be again restored to full
and perfect health. But the Judge has
determined that the people and business of his circuit shall not suffer on
account of his inability to preside at the bench of justice, hence his
resignation. That Hon. Chas. M. Webb, of
Grand Rapids, will be appointed by Gov. Rusk to fill the unexpired term, or
until his successor shall have been elected, which will be in April next, there
now seems to be no doubt. Mr. Webb is a
lawyer of good ability, an up-right, thorough gentleman, and will make a
conscientious, impartial judge, worthy of the honor in all respects. We believe the people and bar of the circuit
will be well satisfied with the appointment.
The
above article from the Gazette seems to echo the sentiment of this judicial
circuit.
