MARRID FIFTY YEARS
Last
Thursday, March 12, at the Danes Home hall occurred the golden wedding of Mr.
and Mrs. Mads D. Peterson, celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary and
Mr. Peterson’s seventy-fifth birthday.
Mrs.
Peterson was born in Thurslund, Denmark,
Dec. 22, 1883. Mr. Peterson was born in Tugl,
Denmark, and they were
married in Taarup, Laaland, March 12,
1858, and settled in Thurslund, where five children were born, the
two eldest dying there. After remaining
there ten years they came to America
April 2, 1868, settling in Neenah,
where they lived for four years, then coming to
Waupaca county where they have resided on their farm three miles west of the
city for thirty years, one child being born to them here. Besides the four children, Ms. C.J. Miller
and fred D. Peterson of this city, Peter Peterson of
Elderon and Mrs. Ben Penney of Farmington,
there are eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr.
and Mrs. Peterson received many beautiful and valuable presents and among them
$94.00 in gold, a gold clock, a $20 gold piece, the age of their marriage,
1858, also several presents from foreign countries and a telegram from
Pasadena, Cal.
The
out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Peterson and children of Elderon,
Hans Olson of Fond du Lac and Mr.
Lang of Chicago.
