Lost an Arm
Last Saturday afternoon while playing on the tracks at the Central depot, Ray, a twelve year old son of Clint Wilde, got caught between two cars which were being switched by a locomotive and lost his arm. It seems he was at the time trying to run between the cars and as they came together threw up his right arm, which was caught by the link in one of the bumpers and crushed into the socket of the bumper, or coupling of the other car, lacerating the flesh in a terrible manner and crushing the bone into dozens of pieces. The poor little fellow as held in this condition and dragged the length of two cars before discovered and taken out.
Dr. Pelton was immediately called, amputated the arm above the elbow, and the boy is doing as well as could be hoped for, considering the terrible shock he has received.
