A GOLDEN WEDDING
Mr. and
Mrs. George Wilson, old and respected residents of this city, celebrated the
fiftieth anniversary of their wedding on Wednesday, by entertaining about fifty
of their relatives at dinner and supper at their home in the First Ward. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson were married on July 17, 1857, in a little frame
building which stood where Knapp’s store now is, by Justice Cyvinus Belden,
Mrs. Wilson’s name before marriage having been Christina Olson. For many years
they lived on a farm in the town of Farmington
moving to this city about eighteen years ago.
Eleven children have been born to them, of whom seven, four daughters
and three sons, are still living. They are:
Mrs. Andrew Anderson, Mrs. O.G. Anderson, Mrs. John Erickson, Mrs. A.G.
Erickson, Will, George and Oscar, all of whom live either in the city or in Farmington. Mr. Wilson is seventy-four years old, and
Mrs. Wilson is sixty-seven, and but for their infirmities due to age, are in
good health.
In
addition to their seven children they have thirty-seven grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren.
They
were the recipients of many elegant gifts as mementoes of the happy occasion.
