IMPROVEMENTS IN CITIZENS’ EXCHANGE

Central Energy Switch Board To Be Installed

3000 Feet of Cable To Be Added to Plant

The Citizens’ Telephone exchange, owned by H.G. Slater, is soon to move into their new quarters in the bank building.  They have secured toll connections with the Bell lines and rented the long distance transmitters and receivers and intend giving Waupaca a greatly improved telephone service.  A new central energy switch board will be installed with an citimate capacity of 400.  This will place the management in a position to give their patrons a telephone service which is automatic in its operation, that is the bell will ring when the receiver is taken down and ring off when replaced.  Parties desiring those phones after the installation of the new switch board can secure them by a light additional charge.  The company will add about 3000 feet of new cable which will greatly increase the outside capacity of the plant.  Owing to the increase in the expenses of the plant a revision of the rates will be made by Manager Slater as follows:

                        Private line business phone, $2.00

                        Party line business phone, $1.50

                        Private line residence phone, $1.50

                        Party line residence phone, $1.00

The cost of the contemplated improvements will reach $3,000, or $3,500 and will give to our city a telephone system of which we may be justly proud.  In fact Waupaca will be the only place of its size in the state where no complete system can be found, it is the intention of the management to incorporate and make a local company of this enterprise so that those desiring stock and a voice in its management may be able to secure it.
