MORE SEWERS FOR CITY
COUNCIL ACTS AT
MEETING ON TUESDAY EVENING
At a
meeting of the city council held on Tuesday evening of this week a resolution
was adopted ordering the construction of a main sanitary sewer on Van
Street, and setting the cost of construction of
the sewer against the various property owners on that street.
Another
resolution was adopted ordering the construction of a storm sewer to start on Lake
Street, at the west intersection of Lake
and Jefferson streets, then east along Lake
street to a point at the
intersection of Division and Lake streets. Also another one beginning at the north side
of Lake street, at the intersection of the west line of Sixth and Lake streets,
then west to a point at the intersection of Division and Lake streets, where it
will join the storm sewer running form the opposite the direction. This sewer will then run across Lake
street and south to the
Oscar Larson property, following Oscar Larson property line to Mirror
Lake. This same resolution also orders the
construction of another storm sewer commencing at the intersection of the north
line of Royalton Street to
the east line of Berlin Street,
then south over Royalton street,
then west to Berlin Street
and across the Oscar Larson property to Mirror
Lake. The construction of these storm sewers has
been ordered to start at once. The city
has agreed to pay Oscar Larson the sum of $100 for running this sewer through
his property, and this sum has been paid to him.
The
petition that was presented to the council at a former meeting asking for the
opening of Eighth Street
was taken up. On motion it was deferred
for future consideration.
