Independent Ticket – Appearance of Things
Correspondence of the Daily Northwestern
Weyauwega, October 25.
This county is passing through a political revolution. The people’s ticket is everywhere popular, and will I think, sweep everything clean. The convention made a great mistake in adding the third candidate for clerk of the board. (Mr. Sorenson runs independent), though the prospects of Mr. Carr, are by far the best.
The candidates are all active in the canvas. Messrs. Balch and Sessions, opposing candidates for the Assembly, go over the entire county personally, each in his own interest. Lesser lights flicker here and there at smaller odds.
A glaring attempt to buy or subsidize the Weyauwega Times, in the interest of the barnacles is pending, and the result at this hour is not known. It did not appear as usual last Saturday.
The sudden death of the father of Mr. Sackett, of the Times, is exceedingly unfortunate at this juncture, as it involves a change in that paper which probably leaves the people’s ticket without a journal to support it; Mr. Sackett having to assume the charge of his father’s affairs. It will appear in some form today. FAIR PLAY
