In 1890 the Waupaca County National Bank became the First National Bank to be organized in Waupaca County.  Some other banks in the area at the time were the Mead Exchange Bank (ended October 1882 with Mead’s murder and Coolidge Bank which closed its doors on ___________).    By 1893 the Waupaca County National Bank had grown to a point that it needed larger facilities and it was decided to construct a three-story building (at the northwest corner of Union and Main Streets).  Besides its counting rooms, the building included a ball room and rental space which over the years would include a doctor’s office, a saloon, a men’s clothing store, and jewelry stores.

The First National Bank vacated this building when its new facility at 111 Jefferson (northeast corner of Union and Jefferson Streets) in November 1973.  At that time the building at 122 South Main became the home to a modern real estate business.
