FULLERTON LUMBER COMPANY BUYS LUMBER YARDS
Had Leased Property From Nelson Est. For Six Years
Negotiations are about completed for the sale of the old A.G. Nelson Lumber Company mill site to Fullerton Lumber Company, who for six years have leased the property and operated the planing mill. Transfer of papers and purchase to take place August 17th.
For nine years prior to Fullerton Lbr. Co., the mill and yard were leased to Midland Lumber & Coal Company.
This property has been in continuous use as a lumber business since about the time the old Central Wisconsin Railway company laid its tracks through the city of Waupaca in 1871.
Prior to that time Nelson Brothers, Andrew and John, operated a planing mill on the ground now occupied by Waupaca armory. The building was later used as a feed barn for many years, up to 1930, when it was torn down to make way for the armory.
In the early 80’x the firm was Nelson & Nelson, Andrew G. of Waupaca and Nels L. Nelson of Scandinavia who had just completed two terms as Waupaca county treasurer.
Following the dissolution of the firm of Nelson & Nelson the business was conducted under the firm name of A.G. Nelson & Company with the late E.W. Nelson and brother, Van Nelson, connected with the father, the late A.G. Nelson.
