SMITHS, ROWE, COLRUE, LOSE THEIR VALUABLE HOLSTEIN HERD SIRE

When Arthur E. Smith, proprietor of White Star Dairy farm, went to his barn Sunday morning he noticed that Ponderosa Champion Ormaby, the valuable Holstein owned jointly by Colrue Bros., Rowe Bros., J. Henry Smith and A.E. Smith, appeared to be breathing hard and he at once called a local veterinary who with Dr. O.H. Eliason, state veterinarian, immediately responded to the call and after examining the animal and diagnosing the case it was pronounced to be acute affection of the lungs.  The animal appeared to be having great difficulty in breathing and before nine o’clock this valuable animal as dead.

This bull was a son of Ponderosa Grace Ormaby, the cow for which W.P. Kissinger refused a fancy figure.  Ponderosa Champion Ormaby was one of the best bulls of the famous 37th breeding in Waupaca County.  Mr. Smith said he would not care to sell his fourth interest in the animal for $1,000, the preceding day, when the animal was apparently in excellent health.
