WAUPACA POST May 2, 1901 THE BREWERY
CROSSING. Mayor
Jardine has taken up the matter of an overhead crossing at the brewery, on the
Scandinavia road, with the Wisconsin Central people, and is in hopes to have it
a reality before the summer closes. The
project is to build a bridge across the railroad tracks nearly opposite the old
Arnold house, and secure a four rod strip from the Schlitz Brewing company,
which own the land, for a roadway south to join the main road. It
is understood that the Central company is as anxious as are the people of
Waupaca that the bridge be built, as it will do away with the necessity for
their keeping a flagman there, as at present. The
Post has urged the advisability of abolishing the dangerous grade
crossing there for many years. It is by
far the most dangerous in the city, and is more so since the railroad tracks
have been lowered. It is to be hoped
that the work will be done.
