ELECTRIC CO. NOW EQUIPPED FOR SERVICE
Neat, Compact, Reliable, Efficient, Verdict of Those Who Have Inspected New Power House
The new power house built by the Waupaca Electric Service Company of this city, is a great improvement in the plant that furnishes electric current for light, heat and power for commercial purposes in this city and power for the electric car line between the Soo depot and Wisconsin Veterans’ Home.
The work of laying the concrete foundation was under the supervision of Chris G. Peterson of this city and the erection of the building and of installing the large vertical shaft generator was under the supervision of Theodore Anderson of this city.
Eleven car loads of gravel and hundreds of barrels of cement were required for building the foundation and the twenty foot square power house is said by engineers to be the most compact building that houses a generator where four hundred horse power is said to be produced by the flow of Waupaca river through the electric power house.
The building when finished will be ornamented with an electric lamp upon each of the four corner posts of the building. However, the appearance of a new building at the power site does not measure up to the satisfaction of the patrons of the company in having the improved service which results from this new addition to the electrical equipment of the Waupaca Electric Service Company.
Since Mr. Aspnes came to Waupaca he has encountered by far the worst period in the history of the nation for securing labor and new equipment. The company now faces a period of financial stringency which will render it difficult to secure the necessary funds to discharge the expenditure of funds necessary to make the additions to the plant that are now nearly completed, unless a liberal response to the appeal of the company to local investors is heeded by those who realize the great advantage of having adequate power furnished by the local light company.
Mr. Aspnes is to be congratulated upon the success of this new form of generator which has been developed and perfected by himself and Mr. Hibbard, one of the stockholders in Waupaca Electric Service and Ry. Company.
