THE REPUBLICAN February 13, 1885 Dr. Geo. H. Calkins, proprietor of the Shealtiel Mineral Springs has had so many calls for his “aqua pura” beverage that he has decided to erect bottling works and put the water up in the seltzer or carbonized form, also make sodas, pops, etc., all of which can be bottled and exported in crates and in that form be easily handled, and ready to use. The demand for temperance drinks in saloons and drug stores (and we hope it will continue) has of late caused an increased manufacture of the harmless seltzers and sodas. Dr. Calkins realizing that his pure “Shealtiel” mineral spring water was soon to be sought for from far and near decided to make a complete ting of it, so he has just purchased one of Tuft’s bottling outfits, costing about $600 which will be shipped and ready to set up at his springs at Lakeside about April 1st. The machine ordered is one of the best, solid brass throughout, supplied with two founts, generator, and bottling machine, with syrup attachment, combined. Dr. C. will spend about $1,200 in getting everything perfected at his establishment. One thing dealers can rest assured that the drinks put up by Dr. Calkins will not come from a frog pond, but from one of the purest mineral springs in the world. |
