COURT HOUSE IMPROVEMENTS

It looks as if the improvements contemplated on the Court House would soon have practical attention.  The committee appointed at the Nov. session of the county board W. O. Ware, Waupaca, S. L. Perry, Marion, C. C. Boyce, Farmington, P. K. Hayward of Royalton and Martin Devine, Lebanon; also Ch’n E. L. Darling of Manawa were present and inspected an outline sketch of plans proposed by architect Wm. Waters of Oshkosh, the architect who drew the plans for the present building just twenty-five years ago.  The plans propose an addition 30 x 36 feet, two stories, located and adjoining the northeast side of the present building.  The treasurer’s office under this plan will be located where the sheriff’s office is now located the present vault of the Co. clerk to be used by changing the entrance.  A new vault will be constructed for the clerk in part of the room now occupied by the treasurer.  The treasurer’s vault will be added to the present vault in the clerk of court’s office.  The first floor of the new addition will contain rooms for the sheriff’s office, county superintendent of schools and two committee rooms.  On the second floor will be an assembly room for county board meetings, law library closets, etc.  A stairway will be arranged so the sheriff can deliver prisoners to or from the court room more quiet and convenient, when completed, than heretofore.  It is estimated that the total expense of addition and furnishings will not exceed $10,000.

The Committee adopted a resolution that Architect Waters submit as soon as possible plans and specifications in full.
