Chandler
Wins the Cup
S.S. Chandler's rink won the
Officers cup Tuesday morning, when they defeated Stout's rink by a score of 16
to 2, in the third series. Having won both the second and third series,
Chandler becomes the permanent owner of the cup. His rink is the same
that won the Pfister trophy in 1895, and is made up as follows: H.M. Lea,
A.W. Hollenbeck, A.M. Chandler, S.S. Chandler, Jr., skip.
Tuesday afternoon Chander's rink
was challenged by a combination composed of Geo. Dirimple, lead and skip, J.F.
Jardine, J.H. McCullough and J.L. Sturtevant, the loser to pay for the
oysters. The combination had the game well in hand up to the 10th end,
when Chandler made a six end, which won the game, the final score standing 14
to 12 in favor of Chandler.
The Chandler rink's proud career
was checked Wednesday afternoon, when a combination composed of T. Cook, J.
Carkeek, J. McCullough and Frank Stout skip, defeated them by a score of 14 to
7. The losers will entertain the winners at an oyster supper
