THE POST February 24, 1894 THE CURLERS
Waupaca representatives at the Portage Bonspiel last week brought home the third prize, four elegant curling caps, it being the first prize won for several years. The Williams and Knudsen rinks were tied for the prize and the game to decide which rink should own it, will probably take place on Friday morning or Saturday evening. The boys made a splendid showing at Portage, each rink winning three out of four games, and losing the last one by reason of sickness. The scores made were as follows: Williams 22, vs. Houston, Cambria, 9. Williams 26, vs. McFetridge, Baraboo, 9. Williams 8, vs. Robertson, Arlington, 14. Knudsen 20, vs. Miller, Pardeville, 13. Knudsen 21, vs. Bailless, Pardeeville, 8. Knudsen 22, vs. J.E. Wells, Portage, 11. Knudsen 14, vs. R. McConchie, Cambria, 21. Robertson, of Arlington took the first prize, McConchie of Cambria, took second and Jones of Portage won the consolation. It has been suggested that a bonspiel be held in this city early next winter, and several rinks that were at Portage signified their intention of coming up to it. |
