CURLING The Waupaca Republican January 20, 1882 Members
of the Waupaca Curling Club have been enjoying the sport for some time past on
Mirror Lake. The Waupaca Republican December 3, 1886 The two curling stones made at the Waupaca Granite Quarry, and exhibited at H. W. Williams & Co’s store last evening, by Mr. Dayton, excited the admiration of all who saw them. The Scotchmen at the works say there are no other quarrys in the world just like this one; either in tint or quality. ********** The Curling Club of Waupaca is making a rink in the rear of E. L. & Paul Browne’s law office. Mr. H. W. Williams has just ordered four pairs of granite curling stones from Toronto, Canada for the club. These including the Waupaca granite, will make ten pairs of curling stones owned by the Waupaca curlers. Several new members have been added, and the famous Scotch game will soon be in full blast for the winter. The Waupaca Republican December 24, 1886 The Waupaca Curling Club have got their rink for curling in pretty good condition between E. L. & Paul Browne’s law office and the Episcopal church, and Tuesday and Wednesday intricated it into the delightful Scotch game. Williams, Bronson, Woodnorth, Selleck, Stern, Browne, and others are right in their elements on the “Te-High”, “In-Turn”, “Sweep”, etc. Waupaca has everything that goes. |
