WAUPACA
POST January
25, 1894 Oshkosh Northwestern - “There is a
movement on foot for the organization of a curling club in this city, similar
to the organizations which now exist in Waupaca, Portage, Milwaukee and several
other parts of the state. Oshkosh
people who have visited in Waupaca this winter have been playing the game and
have become deeply interested in it and they desire to form a club here, which
with clubs at Stevens Point, Waupaca, Neenah and Menasha, Appleton and DePere
will constitute a circuit.” The Chandler rink of curlers, which stayed after the others came home last week, defeated Cruikshank, a crack Winnipeg rink 15 to 11 in the contest for the International trophy on Friday evening last. The American rinks were one point ahead, before the game was started, and Alex McCullough, of St. Paul, lost the trophy for Americans by being beaten 18 to 7. The Chandler rink received much praise for its good playing. |
