THE GRAND VIEW HOTEL

It Will be Under New Management this Year.

Messrs. Lord and Baker, who have leased the Grand view Hotel at the Chain o’ Lakes for the coming season, have been fortunate enough to secure the services of Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Greene, to manage the hotel during the season.  Mr. Greene is a hotel man of many years experience, and has made a special study of the summer resort feature of the hotel business.  He was formerly proprietor of the Hotel Julian at Englewood and last summer was in charge of the Ravilla hotel at Hamilton, Montana, the property of the late Marcus Daly, and the most elegant summer resort in the Bitter Root Valley.  Mr. Greene is a veteran of the civil war, having served as telegrapher for three years during the rebellions, though no one would think it possible from his appearance.  Mr. Lord spend several days last week in Chicago in quest of a manager, and states that he found everyone who knew Mr. and Mrs. Greene to be enthusiastic in their praise.  They arrived here last Saturday and are already at work getting the property in shape for the summer.

There will be a great many improvements made during the spring which will be of great benefit.  The main buildings will be lighted with electricity in the future.  Both main buildings are being repainted and calsomined, as are many of the cottages, and other repairs are being made.  Bath rooms and toilet rooms will be added, and a system of water works put in.  The present bar room will be done away with, and the space it now occupies utilized for a barber shop.  New table ware and linen has been purchased and the table service will be all that can be expected.

The golf links, on the electric road, will be under the control of the Grand View, and in addition, croquette grounds and tennis courts will be furnished.  The boats have all been thoroughly overhauled and painted and will be in charge of a competent boatman.  Fishing tackle and bait will be kept constantly on hand.

In fact, it is the intention of Messrs. Lord, Baker and Greene to make the Grand View an ideal summer home, adding to the natural beauties of the place the conveniences and comforts of a first class summer resort.

Mr. Greene will leave in a few days for St. Louis, Louisville, New Orleans and other southern points, to advertise the place.
