THE WAUPACA RECORD Thursday, June 16, 1904 Grand View Spring It has been said that no springs were to be found about the lakes except on the north and west shores. However, a visit to the beautiful, clear boiling spring upon the Grand View grounds should convince the most skeptical for there is every evidence that water may be secured even at this point. As the story goes, while men were at work digging out an old stump they found an under ground stream which when corralled and piped was found to be a pure water of good flow. It was barreled and a pavilion will be erected over it. Men are at work making a path to the spring. May its water never fail and it certainly will be a big attraction to the Grand View guests. Dining Room Enlarged Locksley Hall has already opened to the public and guests are arriving daily. The season bids fair to excel all others and William Smith is making a name for his place that is unexcelled. This season Mr. Smith is enabled to care for people residing on Point Comfort and other places, for meals, as he has enlarged his dining room. Mr. Smith will not put the steamer Queen on the lakes regularly this year but will keep it to run occasionally for his own purposes and for his guests. |
