THE WAUPACA REPUBLICAN July 01, 1904 Ready for Summer Guests
and Many arriving. The Opening To those
who love to see things slicked up in fine shape we advise them to take a ride
out to the end of the electric line and look around the grounds at Grand View
Hotel., Chain o’ Lakes. The
improvements are too numerous to mention entire but are all for the good of the
place. The hotel has been supplied with
many things needed in every department; among the noticeable things is a modern
large range for the kitchen. They have electric lights everywhere and having
leased special long time privileges they take current from the Veterans’ Home
to light the rooms in both hotels and all the cottages. The grass has a fine growth this spring and
the sloping hillside toward Rainbow lake looks as pretty as an emerald. They pump water for drinking and culinary
purpose from a very deep and inexhaustible driven well in the sold sand and
gravel. No better water can be found
anywhere, in fact, there is an abundance and all are pleased. They use electric power for pumping which
does away with wind mill power entirely. The
Opening Was fine
and although ye editor was unable to be present on account of the convention at
Fremont, all who were there report a most elegant dinner and a grand social at
the Grand View auditorium. On Sunday
there were many from the city present to partake of the dinner from 6:30 to
7:30. being present we can vouch for
its excellence. John
Caughell makes an ideal manager. The
improved condition of things under the new ownership and direction of Messrs.
Caughell, Lord and others of the W.E.L. & Ry. Co. certainly should ensure abundance
of patronage. Every person interested
in our city should be pleased to see it and feel that it is really part of
Waupaca. |
