THE WAUPACA RECORD
Thursday, April 21, 1904 The
Grand View Hotel Company The
Grand View Hotel company is a corporation which was recently organized thru the
influence of Irving P. Lord, John D. Caughell and Wallace H. Lord, and has
purchased the real estate and all personal property and other belongings heretofore
owned by the Silver Lake Cottage company, and used in connection with the
operation of the Grand View Hotel at the Chain o’ Lakes. The deed of the property was recorded
yesterday, April 20, and the new Grand View Hotel company is now the sole owner
of this beautiful piece of lake property.
The Silver Lake Cottage company stock-holders all received spot cash for
their stock, and those gentlemen who owned the furniture and personal property
in the hotel, likewise were paid cash. It is understood that there was between
$7,000 and $8,000 in currency passed hands in the deal. The Messrs. Lord and Mr. Caughell, are all
well known in this city and community, and as they are heavily interested in
the Waupaca Electric Light & Railway company, it is believed that they can
operate the hotel more economically and with greater success than can anybody
else. Mr. Caughell, who has so
successfully managed the Grand View Hotel during the past two years, will
continue to hold the position of general manager, and as he is a hustler as
well as being immensely popular, he will certainly increase the patronage of
this popular resort. Besides the
gentlemen above mentioned, there are other gentlemen who are understood to have
stock in the new company, and who have faith that it will largely increase in
value within the next few years. We
wish the new company unbounded success, and the feel that we can assure them
the hearty co-operation of all public spirited Waupaca people. |
