                                                                      THE WAUPACA POST

                                                                           February 18, 1904

                                                                       The Grand View Hotel

The Silver Lake Cottage Company held its annual meeting yesterday and elected the following officers:

     Pres. -- C. A. Spencer.

     Vice Pres. -- C. J. Shearer.

     Treas. -- John F. Jardine.

     Sec. -- Ed. B. Jeffers.

Directors -- C. A. Spencer, John Gordon, John W. Evans.

A resolution was passed accepting an offer of $17,500 from John D Caughell and Irving P. Lord for the Grand View real estate.  This property consists of about fifteen acres of land, the Grand View Hotel, the Annex, the amusement hall, ten cottages and the dock property.  A great many improvements will be made at Grand View this season, for it is the intention of the management, not only to beautify the grounds, but to completely refurnish the hotel and annex.

Some St. Louis capitalists are associated with Messr. Lord and Caughell in this enterprise and no doubt the Waupaca Chain o’ Lakes will boast this season one of the finest summer resort hotels in the great northwest.

Although St. Louis is the World’s Fair city this year, and in spite of the fact that the Grand View’s greatest patronage comes from that metropolis, a very successful season is expected.
