THE WAUPACA POST Thursday, April 18, 1901 Messrs. Lord and Baker are working a transformation at the Grand View hotel already, and it is safe to say that before the resort is opened for summer business our people will hardly know the place. The grounds are being under-brushed and put in an attractive condition. A new dock has been built, and instead of the gravel walk there from to the top of the hill, a wide and easy flight of stairs has been erected. Painters and calsominers have worked on the outside. Mrs. Greene, wife of Manger E. C. Greene, has had several women at work putting the furniture, beds, bedding and rooms in order, and already things look very attractive and home-like. Mr. Greene left Sunday for St. Louis, Kansas City, New Orleans and other southern cities, where he expects to book enough guests to fill the house during the entire season. |
