WAUPACA TO HAVE STRONG PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL TEAM
That Waupaca is to have a strong professional basketball team the coming season seems certain. Fred Bushey, who has managed and coached several state championship teams, and whose experience in this line dates back to almost the beginning of basketball in this country, will have charge of the squad, and a call will soon be sent out for all who wish to try for places on the local team. George Madson of Neenah, who has been the scoring star on the Menasha Tractor squad for the past two seasons under Mr. Bushey’s management, will make this city his home during the coming season and will add greatly to the strength of the local team. Madson, although but a youngster, was considered last season to be the greatest scoring forward in the state, and he has had enough experience in professional company to make him a most valuable man. He plays equally well at center or forward. It is hoped that a large number of local boys will turn out for practice, for there isn’t a better basketball city in this part of the state, under favorable conditions, than Waupaca, and a team here that can win a majority of its games against the strong teams of central Wisconsin, and also form the big touring teams, will be well supported by local fans.
