THE WAUPACA POST April 24, 1887 The New London Times says the Waupaca city treasurer was elected by the “female vote”. Geo. Howlett received 116 majority, and six of the seventeen ladies voting cast their ballots for him but none of them counted. The statement of the New London paper seems to be a shade “off”, but so much nearer the truth than it usually gets that it is rather to be congratulated, this time, than criticized. |
