THE REPUBLICAN January 28, 1887 The Michigan Legislature has passed two bills of considerable interest: One for the suppression of vice in the Upper Peninsula. The disclosures of the horror of the dance houses caused the legislature to give the law immediate effect. Its provisions apply to any disreputable houses throughout the state. All persons keeping or resorting to such, are subject to imprisonment for five years in the state prison or $1,000 fine or both. |
