WAUPACA REPUBLICAN POST

LOCAL HISTORY IN VERSE.

Waupaca has produced many men and women of whom we are justly proud and of this list he village of Weyauwega has furnished more than her proportionate share.

A recent work on “The Limit of Wealth” by A.L. Hutchinson has been read by leading professors and students of social problems throughout the country and has received numerous favorable comments.

This year Mr. Hutchinson has brought out in “Storm Bound” a series of Character Sketches and sense from life in Waupaca County under fictitious names, though Deacon Warner’s hornet nest and three score other incidents and episodes relating to early history of the county are so plainly depicted that many real names of the characters are recognized at first reading.  The form of writing is rhymed verse and while the subjects are not of a nature to permit of the subtle under meaning in classic poetry, we cannot imagine how these incidents could be put in a better form of verse and we feel confident that no one else save Mr. Hutchinson would undertake so difficult a task. His success can best be appreciated by reading the volume which is published by Cochrane Publishing Company, New York, and may be obtained by sending $1.00 to Edna Edwards, Sec., Weyauwega, Wisconsin, who will then send “Storm Bound” post paid to any address.
