Our Weyauwega correspondent sends us the following items of interest:
About two o’clock, on Friday morning last, the large barn, the property of Alonzo Vaughan, of the town of Lind, Waupaca County, was discovered to be on fire, and there being no help in the vicinity, it was burned to the ground. A valuable span of horses, the whole of his crops, &c., were entirely consumed.
At about the same hour, the stove shop of Thomas Smith, blacksmith of Weyauwega, caught fire in the inside, but was extinguished without any more damage than the burning of one pair of bellows.
Hon. Matt. Carpenter spoke briefly to the citizens of Weyauwega on the afternoon, of Friday last, and in the evening at Waupaca, to a large assemblage. Large delegations were present from the neighboring villages, and a good time was had all round.

Our Weyauwega correspondent writes as follows concerning the hop louse and crop prospects – dated the 26th:
The Louse has made its appearance, and is committing great havoc in many hop yards. Picking is rapidly going on in order to prevent its further ravages. Some yards have been wholly abandoned – others are in fine condition and bid fair to yield well. Wheat, after threshing, turns out better, and more plump than expected; but the crop is hardly an average one; corn, however, is better, and is doing well. Some farmers say that there will be an abundance of potatoes, the ravages of the “bug” to the contrary.
