            Mr. Hollis Gibson has taken the Waupaca Spirit and REPUBLICAN continuously since it was started in 1853.  Mr. Gibson hands us a smoky and crinkled written receipt for the first year’s subscription to the “Spirit”.

                        Received of Hollis Gibson, the subscription price of the Waupaca Spirit, being $1.50
