DIVORCE GRANTED
A divorce was granted Mrs. Harriet M. Benedict from Walter R. Benedict on Friday at Oshkosh. Mrs. Benedict is given the custody of their daughter Nita and $15 per month for her support until she is twenty-one years of age, she is also given an alimony of $3,000 to be paid within one year. The papers filed in the case cover hundreds of type written pages devoted to the complaint of Mrs. Benedict and the answer of the defendant. Mrs. Benedict instituted the proceedings on the grounds that Mr. Benedict failed to support her and failed to provide provisions for weeks at a time. In the answer filed Mr. Benedict tells of over a score of incidents in which he avers that his wife acted in such a way as to cause him unreasonable extravagance and much mental anguish. He denies that he failed to support her and has given an itemized list of bank checks which he issued to defray the expenses of the household. Mr. and Mrs. Benedict were married Sept. 11, 1901, and had lived in this city the greater part of the time. He is employed as land agent for the Wisconsin Central Railway company. Thompsons, Pinkerton & Jackson of Oshkosh were attorneys for Mrs. Benedict and F.F. Wheeler represented the defendant.
