WAUPACA REPUBLICAN

            Mrs. Brainard says that a number of papers having published items in which she is referred to as a “step-mother”, she wishes the REPUBLICAN to publish the following taken from the family Bible, written by her late husband in his own hand writing, in order to explode the “step-mother” idea.

                        “L.B. Brainard and Huldah R. Bradley married Oct 13, 1839.”

                        “Charles Rollin Brainard, born Aug. 5, 1840.”

            Mrs. Brainard also says the record of their marriage is on the records in Portage Co., Ohio, also a transcript in the hands of Pension agent Chamberlain.  She desires those papers who have published her as his “step-mother” to do as much and publish the above which shows the facts in the case.
