A FAMILY REUNION

A very pleasant family reunion was held at the home of Hon. Gilbert Gilson in the town of Scandinavia on Sunday last, it being the meeting of six brothers and sisters, who had not been together before in forty-two years.

In 1853 Gulbrand Christenson and his wife Martha, with six children, settled in Scandinavia, and in 1856 was the last time the children were together until Sunday last.  A pathetic incident was their meeting at the graves of their parents at the Scandinavia cemetery, both having passed away since the children separated. After attending church, they all met at Gilbert Gilson’s home and had a splendid visit.  The names of those present are:

                        Christian Gilson, Scandinavia

                        Mrs. Bertha Hanson, Scandinavia

Mrs. Christian Olsen, Pope County, Minn.

                        Louis Gilson, Stoughton, Wis.

                        Gilbert Gilson, Scandinavia.

Mrs. Martha Z. Newgard, Kandiyohi county, Minn.

Of these, the eldest is seventy years and the youngest fifty-two.  All are in good health and have been successful from a worldly standpoint.  It was a very pleasant occasion and one long to be remembered.
