Ford Coupe Collides With Oil Truck on Highway 18 Below Weyauwega

KNEE CAP BADLY CRUSHED

Accident Occurred When Mrs. Kinsman Turned to Left

to Avoid Striking Car That Had Come From Side Road

Coupe and Truck Damaged

State trunk Highway 18, near Little River, between Weyauwega and Fremont, was the scene of a bad automobile wreck on Tuesday afternoon of this week, in which Mrs. Guy Kinsman of Fremont was badly injured. The accident occurred when the Ford coupe driven by Mrs. Kinsman collided with an oil truck belonging to the Weyauwega Union, and driven by Ed Richter of that village.

Mrs. Kinsman, who was coming to Weyauwega from Fremont swerved to the left of the highway to avoid striking a car driven by Ernest Mielke that had come upon the state highway from a side road. The oil truck driven by Richter was headed south, and Mrs. Kinsman either did not see it or could not stop her car in time to avoid the collision.

In the crash, Mrs. Kinsman was severely injured, suffering a badly crushed knee cap on her right leg besides many bruises and lacerations. She was taken to her home in Fremont where an examination by Drs. Jones and Rehling showed no broken bones and no indications of internal injuries. Unless unforeseen complications set in Mrs. Kinsman will recover.

The front part of the Ford coupe is a complete wreck, while the front of the oil truck was also badly damaged. After looking at the Ford coupe one wonders how Mrs. Kinsman escaped alive.

As a result of the collision the heavy oil truck shoved the Ford backward, and it was only through the presence of mind of Mr. Richter that the accident was not more disastrous. When seeing that a collision was inevitable, he set the brakes on the truck, and it was through his action that the Ford was saved from being hurled into the deep ditch and the truck piled on top of it.
