The following, relative to Ben Goldberg, formerly of New London, will be of especial interest to those who know him and the family.  Ben, was admitted to the bar in this city, but has been practicing law in Milwaukee for some time.

MILWAUKEE, WIS., March 12 – It leaked out yesterday that on Tuesday evening, at Wauwatosa, Benjamin M. Goldberg, a Jew, was secretly married to Miss Jennie Sibley, a Christian, by Rev. Dr. Moses, of Temple Emanuel.  The sensation of the affair is the fact of the rabbi’s braving the censure of his contemporaries by performing a ceremony between a Christian and a Jew.  The rabbi went to Wauwatosa to avoid the jurisdiction of the church here, as it would require an order from the President of the church for them to get married in the city.  On being spoken to regarding the marriage, Dr. Moses said that the affair would certainly create a great sensation all over he United States as well as Europe, among the orthodox circles of the Jewish community.  He was of the opinion that any marriage that is recognized as legal by the State is and must be legal from a Jewish standpoint. Dr. Feisenthal, of Chicago, is reported as holding the same view as that taken by Dr. Moses.  A number of prominent Jewish persons are highly indignant over the affair.
