THE WAUPACA REPUBLICAN POST June 29, 1916 CHARLES PARIS LOSES LEG Broken While Sitting in Automobile – Is Amputated Charles R. Paris, the unfortunate cripple son of the late James M. Paris suffered a painful accident on Thursday of last week while returning from Little River cemetery in the auto livery of Bert Mathewson of Veteran’s Home in company with his mother and other relatives. While seated in the automobile Charlie turned partially around and the leg between the knee and hip joint was broken. On Saturday it was decided by physicians that amputation was necessary and this was done. Charlie has been confined to a wheelchair or in his room for many years. He has been industrious and insisted upon learning to operate a typewriter so he might earn something for his support. He did considerable in this line and was ever cheerful and appreciative of any kindness. His friends should remember him during the trying weeks when he shall be recovering from this last affliction. |
