LARGE CARGO OF POTATOES

The steamer Evelyn brought to the city this morning what is believed to be the largest load made up solely of potatoes that has been brought into Oshkosh in years.  The cargo was taken on at Carver’s Landing, near what is known as the “big cut” on the Wolf River, some fifty miles from here.  There were in all 2,990 bushels, in bags, a weight estimated at a little more than eighty-nine tons.  Local commission houses took part of the lot and the remainder was shipped to Chicago. – Oshkosh Northwestern.
