THE
WAUPACA REPUBLICAN July
15, 1909 POTATO
BAKE AND BARBECUE SEPT. 6-7 Committee
Busy Making Plans to Eclipse Event of One Year Ago Though this city has been occupied
in playing the part of hostess of one or another gathering or convention nearly
every week this spring, it was the sense of those who attended the last regular
meeting of the Business Men’s Advancement Association that it is very important
to repeat and enlarge the annual event that originated last year and was given
the very apt appellation “Waupaca Potato Bake”. It will be remembered that one of the features of this annual
festival is the exhibition of farm and garden products for which liberal
premiums were offered and a most excellent exhibit made, which excelled the
expectation of all and compared favorably with such exhibits at the largest
county fairs. This feature will be
encouraged by liberal premiums. The idea of combining the Potato
bake with the very popular custom of inviting former residents to return for
their home coming is still one of the means of securing the numbers that will
aid in making the event a success and every resident of Waupaca and vicinity is
requested to extend a cordial invitation to one and all to come to Waupaca for
the great Potato Bake that will occur on Sept. 6 and 7, or Labor Day and the
day following. The special committees appointed to
look after the different phases of the work of preparation are all busy and
things are moving along in the mot satisfactory manner. Be a booster for the Potato Bake is
now the slogan. |
