“POTATO BAKE” IS DEMANDED

CITIZENS WISH TO CELEBRATE

Some Would Make Event Annual Affair While Others Would Have New Stunt Each Year

High School Might Have Agricultural Fair at the Same Time and so Add Interest

There seems to be a growing demand that we have a “Potato Bake” this fall.  We have consulted several of our business men and they are almost unanimous in their approval of the plan.

In speaking with Mr. Caward we mentioned our old time “Potato Bake” and he said the idea was a good one especially so as this is one of the largest shipping points of potatoes.

Being almost alone in this “Potato Bake” idea we can make it an event long to be remembered by everyone and it will have a tendency to put us on the map as it will attract the attention of many in the state.

Some have argued that this should be an annual event, claiming that could the people of the surrounding country look forward to a great big “Potato Bake” each fall they would have a tendency to come to Waupaca and tend to build up trade and make all feel that Waupaca is the place for them.

Others seem to feel that it might be better to vary the plans every once in a while so that there would be no danger of people feeling that they have seen it all and so need not come.  These people would have something new to see each year and so to keep up with the times all would have to attend.  We should have all wondering what is coming and if they were shown one big stunt they would be sure to want to see the next.

The question of whether the “Potato Bank” is a permanent thing is not essential at this time. This question really is – do we want one this year?  It has been some time since we had one and so it seems to us that this year might be the time when we could al unite and have a grand, good time.

We want something doing in Waupaca and if the “Potato Bake” looks to be the best thing for the coming fall, lets all put our shoulders to the wheel and push.  A “United Waupaca” can do big things.  It is up to us – let’s unite.

We have heard rumors of an agricultural fair at the high school this fall – why not unite this with the “Potato Bake” and make a time long to be remembered.
