REPUBLICAN
POST October
12, 1916 SPECULATE
IN TUBERS City
Men Purchase Potatoes in Field, Paying
Something Like $50.00 Per Acre Walter Nelson of the Public Garage
and Matt Ovrom purchased thirteen acres of potatoes of Sam Pinkerton just north
of this city and have a crew digging the tubers which like most fields in this
vicinity are reported to run small in size.
The price paid is variously reported from $50 to $55 per acre. Another sale of potatoes is a ten-acre patch
that Fred Minton planted on the C.A. Stinchfield farm on shares. The sale was made to Walter Nelson and Harry
Nelson and the price is reported to be $50 an acre or better. It is hoped the yield will be good so these
young businessmen will be encouraged to try farming adventures on a larger
scale in the future. |
