POST September
24, 1914 Makes
New Potato Digger George Kreiger has completed a new
machine for digging potatoes. The
machine is horse drawn and through a series of gears and belts not only digs
the potatoes, but cleans them and passes them on to a wagon. He has also a contrivance which can be
fitted to the digger which will sack the potatoes as they come from the
cleaning apparatus. A large plow share
digs the potatoes out of the ground and passes them into a large wheel which
looks like a big round bird cage, the potatoes dropping into this wheel are so
manipulated that all dirt or sand is cleaned off. They are then passed through a large opening in the middle of
this wheel to an elevator which carries them into a wagon box or connects with
a sacker. People who have seen the new
contrivance pronounce it a good thing. Wood
