Potato Planter

Another worthy implement to lessen the burdens of the dreary farmer is a patent potato planter, invented by Mr. Thos. Lowe, of Wild Rose, Waushara County, Wis.  It is a simple little implement and can be used by anyone. It is in shape like a common two-tined table fork, with a bar across the tines attached to a wire that runs the full length of the handle.  This wire is attached to a knob at the end of the handle, which is made to work by the touch of the fingers of the operator.  The fork is pierced into the seed, then crowded into the earth; then by touching the spring the wire is attached to, the potato is pushed from the fork.  It is all done within a twinkle.  It can be used in any soil where potatoes ought to be planted.  J.W. Fisher, of Wild Rose, has become a partner in the manufacture and sale of this planter.  They are making preparations to have enough manufactured this winter to supply the demand of the coming spring.  It is a simple and a cheap little tool, and if it works as it is recommended nearly every farmer can afford one.
