WAUPACA REPUBLICAN July 30, 1914 DO QUAILS KILL POTATO BUGS Farmer Gives Birds Credit for Cutting Down His Paris Green Bill A farmer living within three miles of Waupaca has not been compelled to treat his potato field with paris green to kill the bugs except that a few scatting hills may be slightly infested. He believes that the quails, which are numerous on his farm, pick and eat the shell bugs as they make their appearance. He advocates a further extension of the closed season for the quail which he believes is a great benefit to the farmer in killing insect pests. Let every farmer adopt the slogan “Protect the Quail!” and the next legislature may respond to this appeal. |
