WAUPACA POTATOES AND WAUPACA PEOPLE

On the returning from Ashland with the Ironwood Dramatic Association Monday morning, Prof. L.L. Wright found a carload of supplies at the Wisconsin Central depot, the gift of the generous people of Waupaca, Wis., to the destitute miners of Ironwood.  In the car were 350 bushels of potatoes, and several large boxes of clothing.  Prof. Wright to whom the car was shipped, turned over the potatoes to the relief store and the clothing to the Ladies committee.  The donation will be appreciated for more reasons than the one – the chief of which is that it was made by the people of a small city in a sister state. Waupaca potatoes are the best in the world ‘tis said, a statement that many unfortunate families hereaway are ready to endorse, and they are also willing to back up the News-Record in proclaiming that Waupaca people are as generous and big-hearted as the very best of ‘em.
